Luxury Design Furniture & Home Goods Showroom · E-Commerce & IT Solutions
2017 – Present · Los Angeles & San Francisco
Una Malan is a high-end design and lifestyle showroom specializing in luxury home furniture, lighting, textiles, and accessories across Los Angeles and San Francisco locations. When I joined the team, they were operating with a limited WordPress catalog and needed to scale their digital infrastructure to support their growth from a boutique showroom to a 20-employee business operating across four locations.
This is my longest-standing client engagement — eight years of continuous work covering e-commerce architecture, multi-location IT infrastructure, vendor integration, device management, and day-to-day systems support as the business has grown.
Una Malan was experiencing rapid growth but was constrained by a WordPress-based catalog that couldn't scale with their ambitions. They needed:
The centerpiece of the engagement was building a custom Magento 2 B2B implementation that solved a real business problem: trade clients needed controlled catalog access at the correct price point, without exposing full pricing to the general public.
Registration process with admin review and approval — once approved, trade clients see their specific catalog and pricing automatically on every login.
Multiple storefronts within a single Magento instance, each serving a different customer group with appropriately scoped catalog and pricing visibility.
Scalable import workflows handling large vendor catalogs with thousands of SKUs, attributes, and images — keeping the catalog current without manual entry.
Coordinated with multiple luxury furniture and home goods vendors to standardize data formats and automate catalog synchronization across the platform.
Evaluated Una Malan's WordPress catalog limitations and began architecting the Magento 2 B2B solution. Established initial IT support relationship.
Launched the custom B2B platform with multi-frontend architecture, customer approval workflows, and tiered pricing. Integrated first vendor catalogs.
Scaled the product library significantly through additional vendor integrations. Optimized import workflows as the catalog grew to thousands of SKUs.
Expanded IT infrastructure to support additional showroom locations in Los Angeles and San Francisco — networking, equipment, security systems, and user management.
Full IT support for 20+ employees across four locations — ongoing systems administration, device management, user support, and strategic technology planning.
Designed and built a custom Magento 2 B2B platform from scratch, replacing a limited WordPress catalog with a sophisticated multi-frontend system that scales with the business.
Built and maintained comprehensive IT infrastructure across four locations — networking, devices, security systems, and cloud services operating as a unified ecosystem.
Scaled user management from a small team to 20+ employees across multiple locations, maintaining consistent access controls, onboarding standards, and security policies throughout.
Successfully coordinated with multiple luxury furniture and home goods vendors to build and maintain a large, structured product catalog that drives the B2B platform.
